Over the years, residents’ groups and our Parish Councils have shaped the development of Thelwall. Surrounded by land designated Green Belt, and with some of the best agricultural land in Cheshire, Thelwall and the neighbouring parish of Grappenhall, have fought hard to ensure development is appropriate. Thelwall has it’s own champions on future local development planning and conservation – the Weaste Lane Area Residents’ Association. Since it’s inception, the team have worked to coordinate objections to the WBC Preferred Development Option and attended the Inspector’s Inquiry into the proposed Stobart headquarters development at Stretton. In 2019, the Weaste Lane Area Residents’ Association were successful in getting Pickering’s Bridge registered as a Listed structure with English Heritage.
